KEEL SQUARE, the home of the start and finish areas of the 2016 Siglion Sunderland City Half Marathon and 10k, has won a second award.

Having already received an award in the Northumbria In Bloom awards where judges commented on the “fabulous effect” created by the landscaping, the regeneration work also caught the eye of the Northern Design Awards.

Keel Square has now been voted the Best Public Open Space.

Organisor Steve Cram comments:

“The work done to regenerate the City has been outstanding. Keel Square will provide a stunning backdrop to our Start and Finish areas. We look forward to welcoming runners, spectators and visitors on May 1st”
